The Client

University of Hertfordshire's Engineering department approached us to deliver a course that would focus on developing employability and business skills for their students and would plug into their existing module.

 The Brief

There were 500 first year students that were split across two degrees. The course delivered needed to cater to individual students and needed to focus on the importance of understanding business and developing evidence and employability skills before the end of their degree.

The Result

The students had to complete a set of tasks both individually and in teams that both tested their skills and knowledge. Once completing these tasks they were each given a personal skills profile that would act as a self reflection tool for development. The profile gave the students an indication of where their skills were and benchmarked them against other students and upper quartile performers. The students also had access to an E-Portfolio, which they used to evidence their workplace experience and develop their skills over their degree.

An initial 30mins lecture was given to explain about the product and why it was so important to help the students showcase their experience and abilities. The students then were given instructions to complete the work in their own time. Minor technical support was provided.
